Paws for a Cause: Woofstock 2007
Posted in Events, Lincoln on July 20th, 2007.Damariscotta-On Saturday, August 4th, The Lincoln Home on River Road in Newcastle will be the idyllic setting for this summer’s biggest pet lover’s event: Woofstock 2007. Woofstock is the collaborative effort of The Animal House (located on Main Street in Damariscotta), and the Damariscotta-Newcastle Rotary Club to offer pet lovers in midcoast Maine the opportunity to enjoy a day of festivities with their four-legged friends. In previous years, both The Animal House and the Rotary Club offered very successful summer fundraisers: The Animal House’s “Pet Education Fair” and the Rotary Club’s “Family Fun Dog Show”. Finding the events very complimentary, this year they decided to join forces for one great day on the Damariscotta River!
Woofstock will be featuring seminars and demonstrations, pet services such as nail clipping, toothbrushing and microchipping, make-your-own-doggie sundae, and games for pooches and their people! There will be forty pet-related vendors with plenty of freebies and product information, face painting, a Silent Auction, raffles, food (hot dog, bbq items and more!), and of course….the Dog Show! Also scheduled to attend are seven local shelters and rescues: The Lincoln County Animal Shelter, The Humane Society of Knox County, Safe Harbor Chesapeake Bay Retriever Rescue, Catwalk…DogPath, Maine Greyhound Placement, Maine Australian Shepherd Rescue & Placement Helpline and Camden-Rockport Animal Rescue League. They will have information about their respective organizations, as well as adoption application procedures and available pets. All proceeds from the Silent Auction and raffle will be donated to the rescues and shelters represented at Woofstock.
