“There is activity in our silence”: An Open Letter from River Arts

Monday, August 13th, 2007

Damariscotta-The directors and working volunteers of River Arts are alive and well and are committed to offering the community a thriving and sustainable art center, coupled with greater public access to our beautiful 15 acres of riverfront land. We are confident that expanded use of the campus will attract and enrich our community. Since May of this year, the new board has been working to organize the planning and visioning effort. The organization is now stabilized, with its 501 (c) (3) status intact, its new Board assembled, and its committees in place and working hard. Now we can begin to report our progress and planning strategies to the community. The Board includes individuals with diverse backgrounds and expertise. The working committees include Strategic Planning, Education and Outreach, Development and Endowment, Governance, Finance, Building and Grounds and Volunteers. These committees welcome community input. Our first public survey will be circulated next week and will target attitudes of the entire community regarding the past and future of this community resource. This brief survey will be made available as an insert in next week
