FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Hiram, Maine) With nearly 90% of students enrolled at Sacopee Valley High School signing a petition in support of their school’s administrators, a ground swell of public opinion has become clearly visible in SAD 55. The Board of Directors will vote to approve administrator contracts at their next scheduled meeting on Wednesday, February 3rd, at 7:00 PM. A substantial public turnout is expected to strongly support administrators and staff, and a well-organized student delegation is scheduled to speak on behalf of their principals.
“This has been a grassroots effort that started out as just a few students raising awareness about how this process actually works,” says Justine Ruhlin, “it has developed into a display of school-wide solidarity.”
“I think that the Sacopee Valley High School and the Sacopee Valley Middle School Administrators have done a great job. The principals alone have each dedicated over 20 years of their careers to SAD 55”, stated Mary Pingree, a former SAD 55 school board member. “I have a student in each school and have seen how the administration interact with parents, students and staff; I don’t think we could ask for more dedicated people”.
Heavy turnout from the Cornish, Baldwin, Hiram, Porter and Parsonsfield communities is expected for this meeting.
