Portland, MAINE (February 10, 2010) – The Super Bowl may have been played, but Maine’s only professional Women’s Football team, The Maine REBELS, is just lining up for their 2010 season. They are calling all
potential players to join the existing 25 team members before the roster closes on Feb. 20.
The REBELS will be competing with other teams in the Independent Women’s Football League’s 10th Anniversary Year. The IWFL, a nonprofit organization’s, sole purpose is women’s tackle football. The Maine REBELS will be competing for a seat in the Texas Championship Game in July.
To play for the Maine REBELS women need to be 18 years or older; willing and healthy enough to play true tackle football, and provide a strong, enthusiastic commitment to the team. The REBELS can take 10 to 15 more players.

The team will be kicking off their 6th season with a home game against the New Jersey Justice on April 10th at The Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland.
The Maine REBELS will play a total of 8 games this season, with the following schedule:
April 10, 2010 – Home vs Jersey Justice- 7pm at the Fitzpatrick Stadium
April 17, 2010- Away vs Holyoke Hurricanes- 7pm
April 24, 2010- Home vs New England Intensity at Deering High School- 7pm
May 1, 2010- Home vs Montreal Blitz at Deering High School- 7pm
May 8, 2010- Home vs Holyoke Hurricanes at Deering High School -7pm
May 15, 2010- Away vs Manchester Freedom- 4pm
May 22, 2010- Away vs Montreal Blitz- 4pm
June 5, 2010- Away vs Binghamton Tiger Cats- 4pm
The Maine REBELS also will be hosting a Media Day on March 20 for fans, sponsors, and media to see the team in action during scrimmages against other New England teams and to experience Professional Maine football. More information to follow.
