Announcing the opening of a new educational option for middle & high-schoolers in Bangor: Maine Arts & Sports Academy (MASA)-Bangor.
Maine Arts & Sports Academy, a program run by the nonprofit Community Education Advocacy Network, Inc. ,) pivots students around the reality that they are team members of their school, community and Earth. MASA uses the arts, sports, apprenticeships, service-learning opportunities, and environmental education through which students explore their interests, develop their talents, strengthen their athletic abilities, and engage in collaborative efforts with other youths & adults. MASA believes that education necessarily means a melding of education with community; thus, MASA not only declares a share in the responsibility for youths’ moral, civic and global education, but facilitates all this happening.
MASA students are involved in all facets of the educational setting, including the design of their own Individualized Plan of Study. The ration of adults to students is 1:6, thereby supporting the research that a positive adult role model is critical in enhancing a youth’s development.

No student will be denied admission due to lack of funds for tuition. All students are welcomed to apply. A MASA-Biddeford/Portland site will be finalized soon; interested students from southern Maine are welcomed to add their names to our growing waiting list.
