Damariscotta, Maine (August 29, 2010)- Woofstock, Maine’s largest pet festival, will returning to scenic Round Top Farm on Business Route 1 in Damariscotta on Saturday, September 11th, 2010. Woofstock, now in its seventh year, is the combination of two popular events in Midcoast- The Animal House Pet Education Fair and the Damariscotta-Newcastle Rotary Club Family Fun Dog Show. The two non-profit events joined forces in 2007 to form a community event which attracts thousands from all over the region. Woofstock 2010′s schedule of events includes demonstrations by Maine Search and Rescue (MESARD), Agility of Central Maine (ac-ME), Casco Bay Dog Training, a seminar by SOME Pit! on pet and child safety, a Parade of Breeds, a Doggie Fashion Show, Family Fun Dog Show, Silent Auction and 50/50 Raffle. Canine Good Citizen testing will be offered throughout the day, with proceeds benefiting Sheltie Rescue. Rounding out the day’s events will be the Woofstock Yard Sale, for a deal on “recycled” pet products.

Also in attendance will be over 30 pet-related vendors with plenty of samples and products. Activities will be offered such as microchipping, pet id cards, face painting, carnival games, an agility course, and pet photos. There will be eleven area rescues and shelters that will benefit from Woofstock 2010 proceeds: Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association, Australian Shepherd Rescue Placement & Helpline, Coastal Maine Great Dane Rescue, Humane Society of Knox County, Kennebec Valley Shetland Sheepdog Club and Rescue, Lincoln County Animal Shelter, Lucky Pup Rescue, Maine Greyhound Placement Service, New England Border Collie Rescue, Second Chance Boxer Rescue and SOME Pit! Also making a special appearance is Almost Home Rescue. This year, to honor search and rescue teams on September 11th, Maine Search and Rescue will be included in the proceeds.

The gates open at 9:00am. Registration for the Family Fun Dog Show begins at noon.

Admission is “pay-what-you-can”. All proceeds from Woofstock are donated to the shelters and rescues in attendance, as well as MESARD and Rotary charities.
