Public Relations Professional Receives APR Certification

Yarmouth, Maine (November 10, 2010) – The vice president of a growing Yarmouth public relations agency has received national certification, becoming the second professional at the firm to receive the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) designation.

Eric Blom, APR, a Portland resident and executive at Broadreach Public Relations and member of the Maine Public Relations Council, received his Accreditation in Public Relations – the profession’s only national post-graduate certification program — from the Universal Accreditation Board. At Broadreach, Blom works with a variety of clients, helping them tell their stories and making positive connections with others.

“The APR designation demonstrates that the PR professional has the ability to work with clients at the highest level, thinking and acting strategically in the client’s best interest,” said Linda Varrell, APR, president of Broadreach Public Relations. “As someone who has gone through the process, I know just how much work and focus this process required. I’m proud that Broadreach now has two APRs.”

Blom was one of two individuals statewide to be recognized at the recent Maine Public Relations Council annual conference as having earned their APR in the past year.

The UAB describes APR certification as “a mark of distinction for public relations professionals who demonstrate their commitment to the profession and to its ethical practice, and who are selected based on broad knowledge, strategic perspective, and sound professional judgment.”
