Portland, Maine – January 17th, 2011
The Maine Studios is proud to announce the return of the Scriptsation Screenwriting Competition for 2011. “The inaugural year for the competition was a great success,” said Gary Hauger, Public Relations Director for the production company. “We had some great submissions.”
The winner of the first competition was Chris Sorensen for his short screenplay Double or Nothing. Sorensen received the $500 grand prize and the script is being considered for production this fall. The dramatic short focuses on a poker game, marital infidelity and a series of unusual wagers with deadly results. Reminiscent of the classic Hitchcock story The Man from Rio, the short holds surprises and strongly conflicted characters. Chief Executive and founder of The Maine Studios, John E. Seymore commented, “Last year’s winner was great. We look forward to getting submissions to equal Chris’ script this year.”
The competition also recognizes the best of each format with the grand prize awarded each November to the very best of all entries. Submissions are now open for the 2011 competition with a reduced early entry fee of $30.00 until the end of May. The competition hopes to add additional prizes (screenwriting software or seminars) which will be announced when confirmed.
Scriptsation is an environmentally friendly competition that requires all entries be submitted electronically. No paper submissions are accepted. For more information please visit www.scriptsation.com.
