United Way Androscoggin’s United We Dine Event a Success

(Auburn, Maine)- United Way of Androscoggin (www.unitedwayandro.org) held its Annual United We Dine event on Thursday, May 12th. The event encouraged area residents to dine out that day at one of the 20 local restaurants who participated, as each were making a contribution to the Community Fund of United Way of Androscoggin County based on a percentage of the day’s sales or a flat donation. The fund supports local programs and services that promote health, education, financial stability and meeting basic needs.

Participating restaurants included Chick-a-Dee of Lewiston, DaVinci’s Eatery, Fish Bones American Grill, Fuel, Gipper’s Sport’s Grill, Great American Grill- Hilton Auburn Riverwatch, Gridiron Restaurant and Sports Pub, Gritty McDuff’s Brewing Company, Holly’s Own Deli, Mac’s Grill, Marche, Margaritas Mexican Restaurant, Niky’s Greek Corner, Pat’s Pizza of Auburn, Pedro O’Hara’s, Pop Shoppe Diner, Rolandeau’s Restaurant, and Rolly’s Diner.

It is the goal of United Way to create long-lasting changes that prevent problems from happening in the first place. By working to advance the common good by focusing on the building blocks for a good life — a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, good health, and ensuring that everyone in our community has food, clothing and safe shelter. Together, united, we can inspire hope and create opportunities for a better tomorrow. That’s what it means to live united.

Meaghan Vallee, of Fishbones, and Jim Bouchard, of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice are excited to participate in United We Dine.
