NEW YORK SHORT FLIM CONCERT COMES TO PORTLAND IN AUGUST!
Famed traveling exhibition of award winning short films will be part of the
2nd Annual Maine Shorts Festival presented by The Maine Studios.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Portland, ME) The nationally renowned “New York Short Film Concert” presented by Asbury Shorts New York, arrives on the Red Carpet in Portland on August 16th as part of the “2nd Annual Maine Summer Shorts Festival.” ASNY is New York City’s longest running short film exhibition and their traveling shorts “Concert” features elite, independent short films from the past and present. Currently celebrating its 30th Anniversary year ASNY will present the absolute best in live action Comedy, Drama and outstanding Animation including past Oscar nominees, “Best of Show” winners and international festival honorees.
“The 2nd Annual Maine Summer Shorts Festival” is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, August 16th at the Nickelodeon Theater on Temple Street in Portland. The Maine Studios founder, John E. Seymore said: “The NY Short Film Concert” is always packed with the most entertaining short films selected from the world’s best festivals and we are glad to be able to bring them to Portland.”
Included in “The NY Short Film Concert“ portion of the evening will be “Super Powers” from Jeremy Kipp Walker and John Mitchell, winner of the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival “Best of Show,” and the unique “Backwards” from acclaimed animator Aaron Hughes: a 4 minute love story told entirely in reverse…including the dialogue! The 2000 Oscar Winner for Best Animated Short Film: “Father & Daughter” will also be featured, created by Michael duDok DeWitt of the Netherlands. Also “The Quality of Mercy” starring Tony and Emmy Winner Mary Louise Parker (“Weeds”) in a tale of a struggling actor’s revenge on a savage theater critic. In all, “The NY Short Film Concert” will showcase 11 award winners.
Following up on the success of last summer’s Maine Summer Shorts, The Maine Studios will accompany “The NY Shorts Concert “with a selection of locally produced short films. These include the 2011 Film Chowdah Winning films: “The Perfect Picture” by Jonathan Gilbert, “Son Rise” by David C. Miller and the premiere of “2Grand” by Donnie Hiltz.
