For Immediate Release
Screenwriting Competition Extends Deadline
Portland, Maine – August 20th, 2011
Today the Maine Studios has officially announced a deadline extension for their annual screenwriting competition Scriptsation. The new deadline is October 31st, 2011. Studio Executive John Seymore said, “We realize that summer is a busy time for everyone, including screenwriters. So we’ve decided to accept entries for another month to give everyone enough time for that final polish that turns a good script into a great one!”
The winner of the first competition was Chris Sorensen for his short screenplay, “Double or Nothing”. Sorensen received the $500 grand prize and the script was successfully sold by the author following the competition. Contest creator and the Maine Studios Public Relations director, Gary Hauger commented, “Last year’s winning script was great; and Chris was able to sell it. We hope this year’s winner has the same kind of success.”
The competition also recognizes the best of each format with the grand prize awarded each November to the very best of all entries. Submissions are now open for the 2011 competition and will be accepted until 11:59PM EST on October 31st. Winners will now be announced December 1st. The competition is sponsored by Script Pipeline who has added a One Year Membership to their Database Service for the winners.
Scriptsation is an environmentally friendly competition that requires all entries be submitted electronically. No paper submissions are accepted. For more information please visit www.scriptsation.com.
