Costume Up and Get Ready to Race at the 5th Annual Yarmouth Pumpkin Run!

Yarmouth, MAINE (October 07, 2011) – Thing 1 and Thing 2, Skittles, Peas in Pod, Lady Gaga and The Three Little Pigs have all shown up for Yarmouth Pumpkin Run in past years and the

5 year anniversary is sure to bring out even better and more creative costumes and characters on the adult, kid, and now even doggie runners!

What: 5th Annual Yarmouth Pumpkin Run
When: Saturday, October 29, 2011 (Rain, Shine, or Snow!)
Where: Yarmouth High School, West Elm Street, Yarmouth, Maine
Time: Registration Starts at 7:30 at the rear entrance to YHS. Participants can also register online at www.active.com
Fees: $20 for 5K/ $10 for 1K/$45 for a Family*(does not include dogs) and $10 per Dog
Highlights: 5K race with dogs, 1K Kid Fun Run, costume contest, prizes, and all proceeds going to the West Side Bike Trail in Yarmouth. Free, one of a kind, event t-shirts will be given to the first 100 registrants and new this year will be prizes for best doggie costume!

The Three Little Piggies from the 2010 Pumpkin Run

The Pumpkin Run will feature different races for the whole family on a smooth and relatively flat course including:

• 9:00am – 5K Run/Walk (13 + years) and Dog Run (Dogs must run on leash with registered owner and start in the back)

• 10:30 – 1K Kids Fun Run (12 and under)

Prizes to top finishers of the race will go to the Top 3 Open, Top 3 Masters (40+), Top 3 Girls (12 and under) and Top 3 Boys (12 and under). Prizes will also be awarded for best costumes in Adults, Kids, Best Team Costume, and Best Dog Costume categories. Free long sleeve commemorative T-shirts will be given to the first 100 runners who register.

This year’s Pumpkin Run beneficiary is the West Side Trail in Yarmouth, which will be the longest dual track multi-use trail suited for mountain bikes, hiking and running. The 6 mile trail (12 miles out & back) follows the CMP transition line corridor from Yarmouth center to Cousins Island and is currently under construction.
