Portland, Maine (October 6, 2011) — Joyce Poirier has joined Mercy Hospital’s All About Woman practice at 195 Fore River Parkway as a Certified Nurse Midwife.
All About Women specializes in obstetrics and gynecology, with an emphasis on comprehensive women’s health care. Whether a woman chooses All About Women for routine care, a particular health concern, or because she is an expectant mother, the physicians at All About Women are dedicated to earning each patient’s trust and confidence by consistently providing compassionate and clinically excellent care.
Joyce Poirier earned her nursing degree from the University of Connecticut and her MS in Maternal Child Health/Midwifery from the University of Utah. While teaching for the University of Colorado School of Nurse Midwifery, Poirier began a midwifery practice. She and her family returned to Maine in1985 where she became the first Nurse Manager at Mercy Hospital’s Birthplace before opening Back Cove Midwives in Portland in 2001.
With a career that spans 31 years and nearly 2,000 babies, Poirier is dedicated to continuing to provide prenatal and well woman GYN care at Mercy’s All About Women.
