Portland, Maine (October 12, 2011) — Breast Care Specialists of Maine, an affiliate of Mercy Health System of Maine, was honored recently at the Cure Breast Cancer for Maine Luncheon with the organization’s Outreach and Education Award. The award recognizes outstanding leadership in promoting awareness of breast health in Maine.
Julie Susi, Practice Manager at Breast Care Specialists of Maine, accepted the award on behalf of the organization. “I am blessed to work with such an amazing group of women who care for, support, and educate men and women in our community and state,” Susi said. “It’s truly a team approach and we are thankful for those who work with us every day.”

Breast Care Specialists of Maine has been on the forefront of breast care treatment since 1996, when Dr. Melinda Molin founded the program. Dr. Molin was recently recognized as a Great Woman of Maine for her pioneering work in improving breast care treatment statewide. The Center provides a complete spectrum of breast care services, from regular screenings and diagnostic testing to help in preparing for surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatments. All of its many services are offered in a comfortable, homey atmosphere designed with patient privacy and comfort in mind.
Breast Care Specialists of Maine has received a full three-year accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), which is administered by the American College of Surgeons. Only breast centers that provide the highest level of diagnosis and treatment nationally are eligible for this distinction.
