Mercy Responds to Growing Addiction Epidemic by Extending Recovery Center Hours

Westbrook, Maine (October 21, 2011) — Beginning this Monday October 24th, Mercy Recovery Center located at 40 Park Rd in Westbrook will be extending Outpatient intake hours until 8:00 pm. This extension of hours is in response to the growing problem of addiction in the community and patients’ concerns regarding taking time off from work to seek care.

Individuals seeking treatment can call 857-8282 for initial screening or walk in to the Recovery Center’s Intake department between 8:00 A.M and 7:00 P.M when full assessment can be arranged along with same or next day treatment. Employed or otherwise occupied individuals during the day may come to the center late afternoon for a confidential assessment and attend treatment immediately afterwards at Intensive Outpatient which runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Outpatient Manager Charles Morris says Mercy has expanded the center’s hours in response to the growing problem of addiction and patients’ worries about jeopardizing their jobs. “Everyone’s chances at succeeding in recovery improve with treatment, but reaching out to get help can be a hard thing to do,” Morris said. “We want to make it easier.”

In addition to the Evening Intensive Outpatient Program, Mercy offers a full continuum of recovery services including inpatient medical detoxification, daytime Intensive Outpatient Program, a Partial Hospitalization Program and once-a-week aftercare groups for the first year after treatment. The Day Intensive Outpatient Program runs from 9 a.m. to Noon. The Partial Hospitalization Program, running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. provides medical monitoring and additional care for those with extended withdrawal, medical issues, or whom just need additional support.

Mercy Recovery Center is the largest substance abuse treatment center in Maine, with both inpatient and outpatient programs for adults. Staffed with caring professionals, The Recovery Center treats the entire spectrum of addictions from alcohol to all types of drugs one step at a time, one day at a time, and one person at a time. Mercy also offers a specialized program for pregnant mothers with opiate problems.
