For Immediate Release
Veteran Sci-Fi and Horror Actress Joins Spirit Island.
October 27th, 2011 (Lisbon Falls, Maine) – The Maine-based screenwriting think tank, Clockwork Pirate Productions, announced this week on their website (www.clockworkpirates.com) that actress Patricia Tallman has expressed her desire to appear in their horror film, Spirit Island. Tallman is perhaps best known for her role as the psychic Lyta Alexander on the sci-fi show Babylon 5, but has an extensive list of credits in horror films as well.
Andy Hercock, co-author of the script, said of Tallman, “She’s a great actress. I’ve liked her work for years, all the way back to Night of the Living Dead in 1990.” The film Hercock mentioned is the remake of the classic George Romero zombie film that was directed by Tom Savini, one of Tallman’s longtime friends. “We’re absolutely thrilled that she has come onboard this project,” Hercock said.
According to the company’s Facebook page, inquiries have been made of other actors for prominent roles in the film, but Tallman was the first to respond. “She’s the first person we approached for the film,” commented Gary Hauger, also co-author of Spirit Island. “She has the perfect look and presence for this role.” Although not wanting to reveal much of the film’s plot, Hauger indicated Tallman will portray a college dean in an important supporting role in the film. “We may also see if she would like to lead our stunt crew,” said Hauger. “Her credits as a stunt performer are just as impressive as her acting.” Tallman has been credited for her stunt work on television’s Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, as well as film with Jurassic Park, two of the Austin Powers films and many others.
When asked how Tallman became acquainted with Spirit Island, Hauger replied simply, “We asked her to be in our movie and she said ‘yes.’” Pressed for more details, he elaborated about their mutual acquaintance and respect for horror icon, Tom Savini. “I had always loved Patricia’s work and Tom raved about working with her, so I found her on Facebook. When this project came up she was my first choice.”
