Writers Launch Website to Raise Profile and Funding.

For Immediate Release

October 18th, 2011 (Lisbon Falls, Maine) – This week, an intrepid group of screenwriters embarks on an exciting new phase of their careers with the launch of a new Web site. Clockwork Pirate Productions, founded by Gary Hauger and Dana Sonnie in 2001, is described on their Web site as a “screenwriting think tank.” “We’re writers first,” said Hauger. “To date we’ve written half a dozen screenplays for film and television. Our most recent script is starting to gain momentum.” The film Hauger is referring to is Spirit Island, which he describes as being inspired by Native American myth and H.P. Lovecraft. “It is a horror film and we are working with a company in Michigan to get it made.”

The Web site, www.clockworkpirates.com, includes profiles for Sonnie and Hauger as well as another Principal, Andy Hercock, and Creative Consultant TJ Burgess. “Andy is a recent addition to our team,” states Sonnie. “He has a unique, grittier voice to his writing, something Gary and I were missing.” Regarding TJ Burgess, Hauger said, “He is an amazing creative force. I’ve known him since college and he has always been an idea generator.” Additionally, the site includes info on the teams’ other projects and promises ongoing commentary through the blog “The Pirate’s Rant.”

The group is still in the process of setting up an official shingle with the State of Maine and has launched a crowd funding campaign to raise money for startup costs. Hauger commented, “These days it is hard to launch a new venture when you are working full time just to keep the lights on in your own home. But since we have this opportunity with Spirit Island, we’re going to run with it.” The fundraiser is listed on www.indiegogo.com under the heading “Make Our Film Company a Reality” and can also be reached through links on the new Web site. Hercock said, “We’re just hoping people will see our hard work and make a small contribution to be a part of our success story in the making.”
