Prominent Native American Actor Joins Film by Maine Authors
November 18th, 2011 (Lisbon Falls, Maine) – Clockwork Pirate Productions, LLC, a Maine-based film and media production company, announced this week on www.clockworkpirates.com that Graham Greene has joined the cast of Spirit Island. This makes four internationally-known actors that have provided written notice of their intention to appear in this horror film.
“We couldn’t possibly be happier,” said Gary Hauger, co-author of Spirit Island. “I initially made contact with Mr. Greene ten years ago for another project that never came to fruition. It took some time before another project came up with a role that was appropriate for him,” Hauger said. Graham Greene has appeared in numerous films and is possibly one of the most recognizable Native American actors living today. His credits include Dances with Wolves, Thunderheart, The Green Mile and the recent Twilight Saga film, New Moon.
Andrew Hercock, co-author of Spirit Island, commented, “When you think of Native American actors, there is a pretty short list. Graham Greene is at the top.” Hercock was reluctant to reveal too much about the story but indicated why having Greene in the film is so important. “A major component of the film is Native American myth and magic. We really needed a prominent representative of the Native American culture to provide context for those elements.”
As the film production gains steam, the intrepid screenwriters are assembling behind the camera staff as well. “We’re planning on hiring an Executive Producer in the next few months,” Hauger said. “Right now we’re raising a little money to pay his fee. If people would like to help, there are details on our Web site.” The Clockwork Pirate Productions, LLC fundraiser continues on www.indiegogo.com until January 9th.
