The Maine Studios announced today that the overall winner of the Scriptsation 2011 Screenwriting competition is Chris Bonneau for the feature screenplay Infinity. The script is eligible for considered for production by The Maine Studios and Bonneau will be awarded the contests $500 grand prize. “The contest has certainly grown in our second year. We had some really great submissions” said The Maine Studios Public Relations Director, Gary Hauger. Alex Merrill, contest coordinator, said, “It was a tough job picking a winner this year. So many were very good. But ultimately Infinity stood out from the rest.” Now in the second year, Scriptsation has added an additional prize for the overall winner as well as the Best feature, Best teleplay and Best short scripts. Each of these winners will receive a one year database subscription from Script Pipeline(www.scriptpipeline.com) valued at approximately $100.00.
Best Feature honors will also be awarded to James Poirier for his script The White Death; Best Teleplay honoree is Lauren Ennis for On the Case; and Best Short script is awarded to Russ Meyer for 583. Studio Executive, John E. Seymore, said “These are great scripts and we are considering approaching some of the writers about producing films based on the scripts.” The 2010 winner Double or Nothing by Chris Sorenson was sold by the author soon following the contest announcement. “We wish all of the Scriptsation entrants great success with their scripts.” Said Seymore.
Scriptsation will return in April 2012, with a redesigned format. “Next year’s competition is being re-formatted to focus on the production ready films. New contests will also be added to reward more diverse types of scripts. We hope to recognize scripts that might be overlooked by traditional script competition. ” adds Scriptsation Executive Director John E Seymore.
