Pulp+Wire of Portland, ME has been recognized in London-based GDRUK’s global trend forecasting report for its design and product development of the new Summit Spring product, RAW Water.

Acclaimed local design firm Pulp+Wire has been recognized by leading global brand consultancy GDRUK’s (Graphic Design Research United Kingdom) Creative Intelligence and Global Innovation Report 36 (GIR36). The Global Innovation Report is a unique quarterly publication, compiled exclusively for global consumer brands such as Nike, L’Oreal, McDonald’s and Macy’s to highlight the latest innovations and trends in retail, design, packaging and hospitality globally.

Pulp+Wire was singled out for inclusion in the prestigious report for their packaging design innovation and work on the new RAW Water product from Summit Spring Water, Harrison ME. RAW Water is a unique offering from the bottled water company in that the water is entirely untreated and untouched, gravity-fed through stainless steel tubing leading from the spring to the bottle; then packaged in a light blocking bag to keep the product away from harmful UV light.

“Summit Spring has been a long-standing relationship and we were thrilled to work on the RAW Water packaging and branding,” said Pulp+Wire owner and designer, Taja Dockendorf. “The product itself is exciting in that no other bottled water can be presented this way. The packaging and positioning offered a ton of opportunity to do something a bit different, a bit more engaging. To have a company like GDR Creative Intelligence seek us out for inclusion and to be showcased to global brands like Nike as being on the cusp of creativity and innovation is really exciting!”

A long-time client of the studio, Summit Spring tapped the recently renamed and relocated Pulp+Wire to handle the packaging, positioning and brand creation for the product. Formerly designing under the name T.Doc Creative, Pulp+Wire was notified of their inclusion in the trend report just before opening its doors in downtown Portland.

Plan: Your business goals & key performance indicators, marketing objectives & strategy, customer experience mapping and conversion scenarios.
Implement: Campaign launch, design updates, analytics & technology enablers.
Measure: What happened, where, why and how to use the data to improve the strategy.
Optimize: Update the strategy and campaigns and repeat.

An English degree from Wheaton College in Massachusetts and a Media Production degree from Boston’s Emerson College enabled Josh to hone his expertise in digital marketing, while still staying true to the original, and most important, form of engagement and communication – the written word.

Josh has worked with various businesses, organizations, and musicians to achieve success in web marketing. He helped develop content for new website launches and redesigns; produced digital video in the promotion of new music; and spearheaded entire web marketing and social media marketing campaigns, from genesis to fruition, for various organizations.

Josh’s current role is Chief Marketing Strategist of his own firm, Promenade Media, which offers social media marketing and digital media production for small businesses, musicians, and sustainable causes. Promenade Media also provides webinar production, SEO, and overall web strategy consultation.

Josh became an official Board member of the Maine Marketing Association in September 2007. He eventually went on to spearhead the entire website redesign process and helped launch the successful 2009 membership drive. He also continues to create the bi-weekly e-newsletter sent to over 1400 Maine professionals.

Josh is also actively involved with the Maine Animal Coalition and Maine Businesses for Sustainability. When not working or playing music, he enjoys skiing, attending U2 and Phish concerts, and hiking trips with his wife and Bulldog.

The Maine Marketing Association (MMA) was founded in 2001 in Portland. The goal of the organization is to provide ongoing marketing-related education and support to its members and to the region’s business community.

Quantrix Modeler 3.7 enables organizations to integrate seamlessly with enterprise databases to enhance analytics, collaboration, evaluation, and reporting

PORTLAND, ME – April 1, 2010 – Quantrix announces it has released version 3.7 of its business modeling and analytics (BMA) software solution, Quantrix Modeler. The new version improves the ability to extract data from enterprise databases for modeling and calculation, and to then push data back into enterprise databases for sharing and reporting. Quantrix Modeler and integration add-ons, DataPush and DataNAV, enable financial and business planners to understand the impact of decisions by creating multiple “what if” scenarios, speed the budgeting process via distributed planning, and reduce the errors associated with traditional spreadsheet-based models.

The new version, Quantrix 3.7, can use any relational database management system to improve integration with enterprise databases, including SQL Server and Oracle, and enables users to conduct multiple data pushes within a model. It also adds a number of improvements, including a model browser filter that enables users to find the right business model components, a view-synchronization feature, and multiple formatting improvements that ease day-to-day use of the software.

Power Market Consulting, Inc. uses the DataNAV module of Quantrix Modeler to provide a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offering that enables electricity traders to perform analytics on market transaction data from the California Independent System Operator (CAISO). Called OASISLive, the offering enables the market participants to leverage very large volume of electricity market data to gain valuable insights without the high cost of business intelligence infrastructure. “OASISLive uses Quantrix Modeler because it provides a powerful modeling environment in which market participants themselves can build live queries and gain valuable, real-time market insight, and develop strategic responses” says Henry Shin, President, Power Market Consulting, Inc. “Our clients don’t need to download raw data and have their IT teams build custom reports – the Quantrix interface using DataNAV enables users to navigate through complex set of data without having the database expertise. DataNAV brings much-needed data integrity to the enterprise data management, because DataNAV is fast and easy to use, our clients can build their custom reports from the same enterprise-wide data.”

AECOM, a global provider of professional technical and management support services to a broad range of markets in more than 100 countries, uses Quantrix software to deliver long-term forecasting solutions and economic assessments for civil projects, including waste management, power, and energy projects. “We create very large models for our customers, and this new version of Quantrix Modeler speeds up our data processing capabilities, and enables us to manipulate large volumes of data quicker,” says JME Maxwell, Senior Economist, AECOM. “The new model browser filter enables us to find the right tables, views and charts faster, and the synchronization features enable us to combine multiple views and increase the flexibility of our presentation canvas.

“Getting value from enterprise data is an imperative in today’s economy, but so much of corporate data is locked in databases that are difficult to access without intensive IT programming,” says Chris Houle, CEO, Quantrix. “These new enhancements to Quantrix Modeler make it easier for financial and business professionals to access data, perform calculations, develop the accurate forecasts and analyses, and integrate those plans back into corporate data warehouses and reporting solutions.”

Quantrix Modeler’s multidimensional business modeling and analytics software enables financial professionals to break away from the restrictions of spreadsheet technology to quickly develop financial models of the highest integrity, flexibility, and transparency.

About Quantrix

The new enhancements include the ability to manage dividends associated with Texas-based construction projects, to electronically transmit bid-bond data, and to improve navigation and workflow. New updates include:

Texas Dividends Module: This new feature enables agencies that write bonds for Texas-based projects to calculate and manage the dividends given to contractors that successfully complete contracts on time with no claims. iAutomate: Erlon Surety enables agencies to calculate premiums based on SFAA rates, as well as manage the process of collecting the dividend owed by the surety and remitting payment to the contractor.

Surety2000 Interface: iAutomate: Erlon Surety now integrates directly with e-commerce surety bond repository Surety2000, which enables agencies to submit surety bid bond data electronically, reducing clerical errors and streamlining their surety workflow processes.

Bond Processing Options Toolbar: Buttons used to process bonds have a new static toolbar at the top of the screen.

Improved Search for Contract Bond Job Name Field: This field is now driven by a unique word look-up rather than via pull-down menu, slashing the time required to find a specific job.

Principal Bond Card Redesign: The Principal Bond now displays the most commonly used information in the leading columns.

“Our community of users relies on iAutomate: Erlon Surety to streamline their surety bond departments’ workflow,” says Jeff Bucci, National Sales Manager, Insurance Automation Group. “They provide solid ideas that help us enhance the software, enabling surety departments to save time and money, improve efficiency, and build their surety business.”

Models enable college and university planners to quickly and easily understand impact of various student enrollment scenarios for strategic decision-making

PORTLAND, ME – February 2, 2010 – Quantrix announces Enrollment Insights, a set of customizable planning models that enable colleges and universities to glean in-depth information about student enrollment for use in budgeting and strategic planning. The models are created with Quantrix Modeler, a business modeling and analytics (BMA) software solution that enables financial and business planners to understand the impact of decisions by creating multiple “what if” scenarios, speed the budgeting process via distributed planning, and reduce the errors associated with traditional spreadsheet-based models. Quantrix offers versions of Enrollment Insights for private colleges and universities as well as for community colleges; each version enables higher-education planners to enter their specific data into a fully developed enrollment model structure.

“Student enrollment models are crucial to the budgeting and planning process, as they impact every aspect of higher-education budgets, from faculty, to capital expenditures, to revenue. It’s vital to get these models right,” says Chris Houle, CEO, Quantrix. “With Enrollment Insights, Quantrix has done the ground work so that higher-education planners can plug in their numbers and start getting the insight they need.”

Enrollment Insights models include the following features:

•	Multidimensional models that include transfer assumptions, intake planning, student population, intake growth assumptions, retention rates, credit hour assumptions, and student type assumptions.

•	What-if scenarios that include enrollment drivers changing over time, changes in academic demands, changes in expected assistance, inflation assumptions, and sensitivity of key drivers to outputs.

•	A variety of methods to explore the data, including interactive dashboards, customized reports, and trend and exception analysis charting.

In addition to the customizable models, Enrollment Insights includes onsite or online training from Quantrix consultants experienced with higher-education modeling and planning.

Quantrix Modeler’s multidimensional business modeling and analytics software enables financial professionals to break away from the restrictions of spreadsheet technology to quickly develop financial models of the highest integrity, flexibility, and transparency.

About Quantrix

Portland, ME – Portland PROPEL unveiled entreverge, a bold new project to celebrate and support local entrepreneurs.

The inaugural entreverge Awards, a collaborative project led by PROPEL in partnership with the Portland Regional Chamber and numerous local businesses, business groups, non-profits, and social networks, will accelerate economic growth by connecting entrepreneurs and business innovators with resources and relationships within Portland’s local business community.

“The launch of entreverge comes at a time when the economy is starving for positive energy and when national trends toward innovation and entrepreneurship are amplifying louder than ever”, said Mike Carey, Chair of PROPEL and auctioneer with Tranzon Auction Properties.

Nominations for the entreverge Awards will be fielded at www.entreverge.com from May 5th to 31st. Nominees will be considered by PROPEL on a number of criteria, including the nominees’ scalable vision for their business and their commitment to a triple bottom line—the people, place, and prosperity of Maine.

Five entreverge Award-winners will receive face time with Portland’s leading business figures and a package of pro bono consultation, services, and products volunteered by local artistic, finance, IT, legal, marketing, and web experts and other business service providers.

Dana Hutchins, owner of Image Works Internet Business Solutions, is one of the local business leaders who is volunteering consulting services to the winners. “When I was approached about getting involved, “ remarked Dana, “I thought is was a great opportunity to give back to the business community and meet exciting new clients.”

“This is a critical time for collaboration and getting the resources of Portland’s business community behind its future leaders,” said Will Thomas, an entreverge organizer and founder of the Portland-based triathlon company Tri-Maine.

The entreverge Awards will culminate with a celebration on Thursday evening, June 25th at Port City Music Hall in downtown Portland with live performances by Adam and the Waxmen and the Jason Spooner Band. Tickets can be purchased through the Portland Regional Chamber by calling 207-772-2811.

Recognizing the need to celebrate risk and innovation in today’s economic climate, PROPEL began planning entreverge this winter when approached by the University of Maine Farmington and Swardlick Marketing Group. Six months later—after comprehensive feedback from many of Portland’s business leaders and social entrepreneurs—entreverge has arrived.

“I’ve spent the last few months meeting with business leaders and organizational heads throughout Greater Portland,” said entreverge Director Johann Sabbath, “trying to figure out the greatest potential value that PROPEL could bring to the community. Organizing entreverge became the answer.”

Portland PROPEL is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering leadership and education among Greater Portland’s young blue, white, green, and no-collar business community. In 2006, PROPEL was inspired by the Realize!Maine network and formed as an affiliate of the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce.

entreverge is made possible by Premier Sponsors Bangor Savings Bank, Swardlick Marketing Group, and the University of Maine Farmington and Premier Media Sponsor Mainebiz.
