The Fenix Theatre Company would like to announce the Spring 2009 Shakespeare on Tour. Shakespeare on Tour is the Fenix’s “found space” performance tour of Maine. This season’s show will be The Mechanicals (see synopsis below). The first two shows have been scheduled for 02/22/09 and 03/22/09 at Chef et al, located at 408 Forest Avenue, Portland, ME 04101. For more information, please visit our upcoming events page on our website at www.FenixTheatre.org

The Mechanicals

Imagine a story of secret passion and forbidden love…told by the worst actors in the history of theatre.  The Fenix Theatre Company presents “The Mechanicals”, a play that takes the best parts of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and rolls them into one of the most endearing, hysterical and strange theatrical events you’ve seen in a very long while.  How can a wall, a lion, the moon, an idiot knight and a maiden who desperately wants to grow a beard tell one of the greatest love stories of all time?  You’ll have to find out for yourself!

For more information on this event or for booking, you can also contact Executive Director, Rob Cameron at (207) 400-6223 (days) or Rob@FenixTheatre.org

Thank you for your help in spreading the word!

Sincerely,

John E Seymore

Managing Director

Fenix Theatre Company

Preparedness Group Seeks Volunteers

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008
Mexico, Maine - The Oxford County Medical Reserve Corps needs your help. We are establishing teams throughout the county to act as local responders to major events. Our function will be to assist Maine CDC and local hospitals with staffing hospital overflow care facilities, mass immunization clinics, and special needs shelters. We need both clinical staff as well as support personnel.

Clinical Volunteers: If you have training working in a medical capacity we have positions that need your expertise. We also need help from those with mental health training and spiritual support.

Support Volunteers: We cannot function without a large number of people who can perform support functions such as checking people in, issuing and receiving paperwork, or simply directing people to the appropriate place. If you can sit or stand for a couple of hours, we need you on our team.

Leadership Volunteers: Every good organization needs a few good leaders. Under the Incident Command System, we need to fill a number of positions to assure that the process runs smoothly. If you have leadership experience, we need to speak with you about how your experience can best work into our system.

“A disaster is NOT the time to be trading business cards” – Rick Sarino, Boston EMS

When an emergency occurs, it is too late to begin screening and training volunteers. Our program handles those tasks ahead of time. We review each applicant, do a background check, and verify credentials. We then provide members with both online and in-person training based upon their level of participation. People who wish to be available for deployment Outside of Oxford County are required to take additional training.

The Northern Oxford District Coordinator will be holding an
Informational Meeting
October 28th, 6:00pm
Mexico Recreation Center
For more information visit
OxfordCountyMRC.org or call 357-1821
