Local Business Owner Runs for Charity

York, Maine (September 23, 2011)— Local business owner Dana Whitney, of Design Lab 10, a graphic and web design company, will be running in the Wineglass Marathon in Corning, NY on October 2 and then again in the Disney Marathon on January 8, 2012. “I have never been a runner before, but decided to give it a try. I like to challenge myself with goals, so I decided I should go all the way and run a marathon.” Dana says in addition to the obvious health benefits, she uses the time spent running to brainstorm and get her creative juices flowing.

Dana donates graphic and web design services every year to charities from Maine to Florida. In addition to her time and services, she is using her running as a way to raise money for a charity, Caleb’s Crusade. She first met Caleb and his family before he was diagnosed with leukemia and spent many hours with them – as neighbors, friends and families with small children. From diagnosis, to treatment, to defeat…she witnessed the hardships and heartache first hand. Love, strength, family and community support brought the family through this horrible experience.

Since then, she has lost a life-long family friend to liver cancer and the father of her two oldest children has been diagnosed with brain cancer.

“Cancer affects everyone’s life in some way.” Caleb’s Crusade raises money to help the families concentrate on their loved ones, not their everyday expenses. “I have donated graphic design projects for this foundation and will continue to do so for as long as I can help. Now it’s time to put my sneakers to the pavement and run.”

Design Company Moves to Accommodate Growth
